TOEIC Tests for UK Home Office Visas

Home Office requirements and ETS® tests

The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test, TOEIC® Speaking and Writing tests, and TOEIC® Speaking test are required by the Home Office (UKBA) for visa and work permit purposes.
TOEIC is accepted for Home Office naturalisation and settlement purposes from 28th October 2013. You will need to take the "Listening and Reading" tests at B1 level.
  • Student visas (Tier 4): You will need to take both the ''Listening and Reading'' and ''Speaking and Writing'' tests.
  • Work permits (Tiers 1 & 2): You will need to take both the ''Listening and Reading'' and ''Speaking and Writing'' tests.
  • Spouse/Partner visas (A1): You will need to take both the ''Listening and Reading'' and ''Speaking'' tests. (Only the Listening and Speaking scores are required, but the Listening and Reading test is one test and both parts must be taken)
Results for the "Listening and Reading", 'Speaking and Writing", and "Speaking" tests will be shown on an official score report provided to you. This score report is accepted by the Home Office (UKBA).
TOEIC Results are usually provided within 10 working days of the test.
Please note that from October 2013 spouse/partner applicants will be required to achieve B1 level in Listening and Speaking.
